LABORATORY PROCEDURES FOR PLASMIDS
REFERENCE NO: PP/1998/02/02
TITLE: SUBCULTURING and QUALITY CONTROL
INTRODUCTION
This document describes the basic procedure to be followed upon receipt of new plasmids
for the public collection.
PROCEDURE
The deposited plasmid is subcultured and submitted to quality control tests as described
in PP/1998/03/02 and PP/1998/03/03.
- If all quality control tests yield satifactory results, the procedure is continued as
described in PP/1998/02/03.
- If there is a failure of one of the quality control tests, the depositor is informed by
letter or fax and a new deposit of the plasmid is requested
- If the depositor is unable to provide the collection with a new deposit of the plasmid,
the accession process ends. The deposited plasmid material is returned to the depositor or
with his approval removed by the collection. The recorded minimal information on the
plasmid (cfr. PP/1998/02/01) is labeled with the indication that
the accessioning procedure has halted. The accession number of the plasmid MAY NOT be used
for another deposit.
