LABORATORY PROCEDURES FOR ANIMAL & HUMAN CELL LINES REFERENCE NO: AHC/1998/3/3.4/1.4 TITLE: PCR ANALYSIS FOR EBV Since 1996 cell lines (all newly accessioned cell lines and going back retrospectively the previously accessioned cell lines) are tested for viral DNA of EBV by PCR using primers from the EB2 (BMFL1) gene (TC 70 and TC 72) (1). Amplification is carried out for 35 cycles at 95 C for 30 sec, 65 C for 30 sec and 72 C for 1 min. EBV positivity also indicates the participation of EBV in transformation of EBV sensitive cells.
